Tommy Babin’s BENZENE – Wed Feb 8th 9pm / $5

The Kozmik Zoo is hosting one of the strongest Jazz ensembles in Vancouver, Tommy Babin’s Benzene received great reviews for their latest album “Your body is your prison”, Come out for a night of great music, food and drinks!

“The inventiveness of this triumph is to admired ” – Georgia Straight

“Vancouver bassist Tommy Babin puts an old aesthetic on the line by issuing a suite of uninterrupted music – a courageous move in these days of music-consumer ADD. The compositions benefit from a focused narrative that’s cinematic in its sweep.

This is music by musicians who are equally comfortable with rock, hip-hop, electronica and jazz, and that flexibility gives depth to the effort. Babin’s muscular, insistent playing deftly underpins the taut phrasing of his low-frequency compatriot, baritone sax player Chad Makela. Fleshing out the sound is the alternately shredding and reflective Chad MacQuarrie on guitar and the fluid, cyclic drumming of Skye Brooks.” NOW Toronto

….SUBCODES….

Melbourne’s Andrew Brooks joins four great Vancouver
musicians in a fiery evening of sounds, codes & subcodes
